Housekeeping is a never ending process. We scrub the walls, floors, fans, furniture, dishes, clothes, air vents, and many other things. The one thing that seems to be low on the priority list is window treatments.

Those expensive blinds, shades, and draperies simply hang there to give us a pleasing décor, to filter noise, and yes, they act as filters of dirt, smoke and grease within the home. The invisible smoke that travels throughout our home comes primarily from cooking, candles, and tobacco products.

So why do we not clean them like the other things around the house??? Draperies, shades, and blinds should be cleaned no less than once every two to three years and vacuumed no less than once every 3-4 months. If you keep your house in immaculate clean condition, then window treatments should be cleaned once every five years, but most of us are not that immaculate with housekeeping, we are simply too busy.

With so many expensive electronic toys, computers, phones, TV’s and DVD players, it is more important now than ever before to keep our home environment clean.
